February 15, 2016

This week was another pretty slow week. We had another one of our investigators come to church this week so now he is two Sundays away from baptism. They do celebrate Valentines here but it isn't like a huge celebration. We didn't do anything. This week I tried a lote! It is what they have on Nacho Libre. It is corn on the cob with sour cream and chile powder. It is really good! I am pretty use to the spicy food here. Last week I tried some habanero salsa and it wasn't too bad. Chile habanero is the spiciest chile in mexico. We got the February's Liahona this last week and I really liked to story about Lehis dream and the story about happieness. We have been using those stories to teach people using the scriptures. It works out really well! This week I was asked to prepare a talk for Sunday if the speaker didn't show up. I had a talk all planned out but last second on Sunday they showed up. I actually wanted to give the talk because I already had it all planned out. It is a good thing that today during our district meeting we all have to give a 5 minute lesson in our second language. The latinos have to give a lesson in English or whatever language they are studying. I am pretty excited actually! Today for our p-day we went and played some soccer and basketball at the chruch then went to the mall and ate at burger king! It was a pretty fun day. I also learned how to solve a rubic cube in like 30 minutes from an Elder that is from the Dominican Republic. It is pretty funny he is like super black and I am super white and we are almost always together messing around with trompos or something. Trompos are little mexican toys like tops. This upcoming week we hope to have about four of our investigators come to church. We found two new ones this week and they sell hamburgers so hopefully we will get free hamburgers this week! haha. This last week there was apparently an earthquake in our area. I was asleep so I didn't even know it happend. We have a bunch of food and water so if anything happens we are prepared. And we are being careful don't worry! Hope everyone has another great week!

February 8, 2016

We had a pretty great week! Not much has happened since last week. Today we had an awesome day! We woke up at 5 and left our house to go to another Elders area. There they have a mountain in their area that we planned on hiking before the sunrise. It was a straight up climb but we were careful. One of the Elders was not use to climbing and threw up three times. We got to the top just in time to watch the sunrise. It rose up right behind the two volcanoes that are really close to our area. One of the volcanoes is active and was exploding while the sun was rising! It was an amazing view! Something I will never forget! Everything that happens here are things that I will never forget! We then went and played soccer for a little while then came back to our area. It was the perfect p-day!
We went to church this week not expecting any of our investigators to come because there was a girl in our area that commited suicide. We didn't know who she was but our investigators did and they said they were going to go to her funeral. While in church one of them actually came! We were so happy to see her there. Our other investigator wanted to know if he could invite his friend to come with him or to another church because he lives somewhere else. We were like of course you can! It is awesome that our investigators want other people to feel what they are feeling!
This week we had interviews with the president. They went really well and it was nice to sit down and talk with him!
I hope everyone has another great week and knows that it is cold here also... maybe not quite as cold but I use a sweater almost everyday!

February 1, 2016

The last time I wrote was on Wednesday so I havent had much time between then and now but we had a pretty good week! We were able to get three investigators to come to church and they are all progressing really well. Earlier in the week we asked a sister in the ward if she would come to a investigators house with us to teach and she did. She is an amazing lady that had her daughter pass away last year and she gives us food almost everyday of the week. We went and taught one of our investigators and when he opened the door he smiled really big. He saw that we brought somebody. They are both single and she thought he was cute. They are both like 60 years old too. We now have fun with the sister at church and when she feeds us by saying, ´´How is your boyfriend doing?¨ She is an awesome lady and I am glad we can have fun when we are around her. Because of her we were able to get two of our investigators to church and now they feel more comfortable coming.
This week when we got to the church a girl walked up to me that was about 12 and once she looked at me she did the little scream that girls do when they see something they like and said, ´´His eyes!´´ It was really funny. Everyone here has brown eyes so when someone else comes that has different colored eyes it is crazy to them. I have had so many people say stuff to me about them. It is one way we start conversations with people in the streets sometimes hahah.
This week we ate some pretty crazy food. It was called Morronga. It is the intestines of a pig. They leave all the leftover food in there and then the rest of it is just filled with blood. It is not the greatest thing in the world. It doesnt smell that great either after it is cooked. My companion is going to finsish one year in the mission this week on thursday so we are going to make cookies. We are pretty excited. This morning we went to a big soccer field and met all the elders and sisters that are in Ixtapaluca and played sports. I played socer the whole time but they had soccer, basketball and football. It was really fun. I got really sunburnt! Other than all that not much has happened this week. I hope everyone has a great week!
